Coop’s Troop
“Caring for courageous children.”
5K Fundraiser
Be a trooper and run (or walk) for Cooper. Coop’s Troop Foundation was founded in memory of Cooper Matthew Richards, a courageous young boy from Weymouth who lost his battle with a very rare genetic disorder called GM-1 gangliosidosis in January 2017. The mission of the Coop’s Troop Foundation is to support and sponsor children with life limiting conditions and special needs. The Annual Coop’s Troop 5K is our biggest fundraiser to support the mission.
Dear Loyal Supporters,
Thank you for being part of our Coop’s Troop Foundation family. Our greatest joy is supporting our mission of caring for children with life limiting conditions and special needs. We do our best to carry out this mission with compassion, dignity and most importantly, in memory of Cooper Matthew Richards.
We had beautiful plans for the Coop’s Troop 5K this summer. It was to be held on a special day, Cooper’s 7th Birthday. We had visions of laugher, lots of balloons, amazing runners and walkers, bright colors and a special day to honor him. While it was a difficult and sad decision, our family has decided to cancel the~5th Annual Coop’s Troop 5K Birthday Bash and Dash~ which was scheduled for Sunday, July 12, 2020. We care immensely about the safety and wellbeing of all of you and the community during this time of the COVID 19 emergency.
While we understand that large crowds cannot safely gather, it was also important that we didn’t ask local businesses to donate money, supplies and their time during a difficult time for their own businesses and personal struggles.
Please stay tuned about plans for future Coop’s Troop Foundation events when it is safe.
We appreciate your support to the 5K over the past five years.
We'd Love to Hear from you
