Coop’s Troop 6th Annual Holiday Toy Drive

💜💜Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!💜💜

The 6th Annual Coop’s Troop Holiday Toy Drive was an amazing success. Year 6 is in the books, and we are already thinking about year 7!

It was our biggest toy drive to date!

It was a day full of lots of pure love, support, and kindness.

Coop’s Troop Holiday Toy Drive collected thousands of toys and gifts for children, teens, and families in need during the holiday season.  The generosity and kindness of the people is nothing short of amazing.

Thank you, Coop’s Troop!

This is where your donations went in 2021:

🌲 Almost all the ~Cooper’s Wish Children~ packages of love were delivered or picked up by local families in need of holiday assistance this year. With COVID, the numbers remain unprecedented.

🌲 TWO separate picks up and TWO full box trucks of toys and gifts were picked up by My Brother’s Keeper. My Brother’s Keeper is a Christian ministry of loving service and education.  They run a dynamic Christmas program to help families in need at the holidays with food and presents.  If you have never investigated My Brother’s Keeper or spent a day volunteering at their warehouse at the holidays, you are missing out on something big.

🌲~Cooper’s Wish Children~ included children in the care of the Department of Children and Family services. DCF works in partnership with families and communities to keep children safe from abuse and neglect.

🎄 Local families in our parish, school and town community were supported, that are facing financial hardship and illness. We adopted quite a few whole families, not just the young children. Gift cards to support having a holiday dinner on the table and basic needs such as a winter jacket were a priority this year.

🌲 Another portion of ~Cooper’s Wish Children~ were donated to children in the care of HopeHealth Hospice and Palliative Care.  Hope Hospice has a special place in our hearts, as it was Coop’s hospice provider.  They cared for him with distinct knowledge, kindness, and dignity.  Helping children in hospice and palliative care and their siblings have a special holiday makes our hearts happy.

🌲 Infant gifts, clothes, developmental toys, diapers and needed supplies were dropped at Friends of the Unborn Maternity Shelter Home.  They are a maternity sheltering program where pregnant women can find long term shelter, support, counsel, education and more.

🌲 Gifts, luggage/bags, hats, gloves, pajamas, games, toys, and supplies were picked up by the Wandering Heart Project.  Their mission is to ensure foster children of all ages throughout Metrowest and the South Shore have access to basic essentials and clothing.

🌲Financial donation was made to support Boston Children’s Hospital.  BCH was unable to take in-kind donations this year due to COVID so financial assistance was given to help support the needs of children in the hospital this holiday season.

🌲 Amazon Gift Cards were donated to the Metabolism and Genetics Group at Boston Children’s Hospital to help families with needs at the holidays.  They were also not able to receive in-kind donations.

🎄 Thank you to everyone who donated a toy to a child in need and to those that took a “Cooper’s Wish Child” and made Christmas morning wishes come to life.  We remain speechless when we talk about the generosity of the elves. You helped 275 individual wishes comes to life this year!

🎄Thank you to the best team of Coop’s Troop elves that come into our home and help bring this vision to life year after year. It’s like a fine oiled machine at this point. We couldn’t do it without all of you.  Taking a village…is right!

🎄Thank you to Lynda Chuckran for blessing us with her talent on the piano. Everyone commented on the heartfelt addition of live holiday music playing during the toy drive. You are so talented.

The Grinch truly said it the best:

“ Maybe Christmas he thought doesn’t come from a store, maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more.”

Thank you, Coop’s Troop!
